Culture is like a mirror of one’s personality that hanged on the wall of every house. The light of its reflection is serves as the passages which help to understand one’s life. Different people coming from different part of this world have different views, ideas, lifestyle and standards about living. Understanding one’s culture is one way to trace why people have different beliefs and perceptions in their lives. It also helps us to answer why they move and act like that and sometimes it is peculiar in others eye. Tracing the attitudes and behaviors came from assist everyone to understand the similarities and differences of one’s culture.

Live life to the fullest and make a short exploration to the past is a big highway and opportunity to examine one’s culture of his life. Folklore saying says that “Father Like Son and Mother Like Daughter”. A saying where the concept inheritance of culture was can be applied. It is not about the traits it is about the culture that passed from one filial generation to another modern generation.

Join and help me to explore and trace my own cultural background.  Hello. My name is Carlie H.Momongan, a destined to be achiever, a well motivated man, and God-centered creature, huggable and lovable son. I’m the fruit of love of Mr. Ricardo P.Momongan and Mrs. Rosalinda H. Momongan. I’m 17 years old in age and lived in the Pilgrimage City of the Philippines –Antipolo. I’m the eldest child in our small family and now college student of Polytechnic University of the Philippines.  

Now give a time to introduce where tree I came from. The post or pillar of our house is Mr. Ricardo P. Momongan, he is the oldest son of Generosa Perante and Benjamin Momongan who settled in the island of Leyte but he grew in Cebu City. He is a product of broken family and he lived with his own. When he’s mind to grow up and it was filled with bad experience. Based on his past story, I remembered he said to us that he didn’t finished even high school and he started to work his own, because of that scenario he built to his mind a high belief that we must finished our study, he always insist to me and my brother. In the matter of fact, he is my helper during my elementary and high school life; he is always assisting us to accomplish our projects. He never give up providing everything we need just to comply with the requirements. He is also a good disciplinarian in our house. I admired the way he discipline us because he just talk with us and give his sentiment in order to correct our wrong doing, he never used  belt or stick to punish us. He is small but terrible, he didn’t only feeds our mind but he also touches our heart. Those learning’s and good thoughts that I pick up from him is one of the many beliefs that I will adapt and acquire coming from him which I will do to my own family as also their post in the future, which I share also to my future co-workers in my career.

The Light of our House is Mrs. Rosalinda H. Momongan; she is the 6^th child of Antonia Penehermoso and Marciano Hutalla who lived in the Mountain Peninsula of Quezon Province, she grew coming from one big family and supportive parents. A woman of high fighting spirits and stand out views makes her personality as a whole. She is a good decision and plan maker. She is not stingy wife, she fond of buying those things which will make us happy. She is a product of one big family so she is filled with love and affection given by her parents and her siblings whom she shared also to us. She always showed her love to us by means of giving or buying things which is allotted to her but she give to us. She is grew in the province, definitely she also have deep faith in God, in the matter of fact, I always heard from her that she wants us to fulfill our dreams, ambitions and also our vision in our life. Sharing love and much affection is the one the big influence of her to me. Loving and giving my affection to my own family in the future is the best things that I will share to them, which I proud that I acquired coming from my mother. A deep faith with God is the most powerful tool that I used nowadays.  Those learning’s coming from my parents is not only about effect of their culture to me it is also about life changing way from the small one to moving forward to the successful life in the future.Passing the good and bad traits that reflects the belief and perception is one of the good manipulations of identifying and tracing culture influence. Culture is also about the people and the society you belong. It helps me also as future Human Resource in profession in facing different people which have different diversity of perception. 

What is true about culture? It is about the designated traits that our creator gives to us and with the guidance of Him. At last we should be thankful to those things that they shared with us to mold what we are today and what will be in the near future as own legacy.

I BELONG

I belong

 “People come together in a FORMAL Organization to achieve one thing that they can’t get alone.”- Chester Barnard .This statement simplify that there are things that we can’t do without the help of others, in order to achieve our desires and goals in life we need to become a member of a formal organization as a complement to your plan. Formal Organization is not only a home for achieving one thing but also a room of influence that may one individual change or absorb the beliefs , point of view, ideas, lessons, and behavior where he belong.

As an individual, we need to become a member of a group to know the things that we can’t do alone. As a student I also involved in different formal organization during my high school life .Organization that molds me to become a good, responsible, motivated and effective leader.

These are the organization I belong. SCIENCE CLUB (The Official Science Organization) in our school. Academically, I love Science especially the area of Biology. This organization inspires me to work hard together with other members. It instills me to become responsible in performing my duties especially when we have the project titled “Binibining Kalikasan”. I was the head committee of registration and one of the official auditors of the votes gathered as part of the competition. I learn to look fair to all contestants as I should do to my future co-workers in the company where I will employ. 

UMALOHOKAN (The Official Filipino Publication) in our institute. This organization teaches me to write different articles such as Feature article. It encourages me to apply and use the techniques and tips that I absorb coming from the lecture that we have.  I apply those things in our daily writing academic activities which give me an edge in writing activity. 

 SUPREME STUDENT GOVERNMENT (The Official Highest Student Organization). This organization boosts my leadership ability and proves me that I can be a good leader and follower to my constituents. It also challenge me to face different student and build confidence while we are campaigning to them and elected as Public Information Officer (PIO) during my 3^rd year and re-elected as Auditor during 4^th year. I believe that it is not always the position; it is all about your obligation in the group. During the two consecutive terms, I need to balance my responsibility between the academic and extra-curricular. It also influences as to motivate ourselves and also our members to perform the assign task and responsibility. It teach me  to become a sensitive and organized to the things that I handled especially accounts because I need to submit financial report to our school principal to monitor the status of our funds. On the other hand, we also conduct different activity like Leadership and Training Development which also enhanced my leadership ability. In the program, I need to handle and become a leader of the group and because of that I learn coming from my associates which now I apply to my college career as a Human Resource student and future management head in profession in the future.

“You should be a member of a group to become a whole person.”- Mary Parker Follet. I become a whole person because of the three organizations I belong. Those learning’s and influences that they share is the best things that I acquired as of now because I continually applied those things in my present career. It can’t be possible without the presence of our Creator. As our concept ended it proves that FORMAL organization also influence me a lot and molds me to become a good, efficient, motivated, and effective leader someday.

  BAGONG KARANASAN

  Tapos na ang ikaapat na taon ko sa hayskul, panahon kung saan nakatanggap din ako ng parangal na sobrang ikinagagalak ko dahil nagbunga din ang paghihirap ko sa loob ng apat na taon na pamamalagi dito sa kabila nito kalungkutan din ang aking naramdaman dahil lilisanin ko na ang bahay na nagbigay sa aking ng maraming karunungan na siyang ngayon ginagamit ko na sandata sa bagong mundo ginagawalan ko. Salamat sa bawat guro na nagbigay sa akin ng pagkakataon na hubugin ang sariling kakayanan sa kabila ng aking kahinaan.

Bagong bahay, bagong buhay at higit sa lahat bagong mundo. Mga bagay na hindi ko inaasahan na mangyayari sa pagpasok ko sa kolehiyo. Sa umpisa naninibago ako sobra sa bagong mundo ginagawalan ko, iba sa kinagawian ko noon. Sa totoo lang iyon talaga ang totoong mundo natin na ginagawalan, maraming nagiba mula ng mapunta ako sa bagong bahay ng karunungan. Kakaiba ang bahay na ito dahil tinuruan nila ko na manindigan para sa sarili ko at ipaglaban ang ano ang dapat sa akin. Antas ng pamumuhay ay pantay pantay ko tutuusin pero hindi mo pa rin maikakaila na may mga tao pa rin nakakahigit sa iyo.

Unang araw sa Unang Taon.Wala akong kakilala, Sadyang para akong bata na nawawala sa isang mall. Haixt  ! Iba nga pala sa hayskul sa kolehiyo, Ibang iba. “ Iskolar ng Bayan Ngayon ay lumalaban”, “Edukasyon,edukasyon karapatan ng mamayan” mga salitang una ko narinig at tumatak sa utak ng bawat isa na nandun.Naranasan ko din ang magklase habang may nagproprogram at nagkakasayahan.Haixt !Naku wala ako talagang marinig, Sariling sikap na lang ito.

Naranasan ko din ang bumagsak sa mga pamanahong pagsusulit dahil sa sobrang pagod .Masaya din ang klase kapag may mga aktibidades katulad ng Management Week.Pagtulong sa kapwa at paglilingkod sa bayan , mga bagay  na ipinaintindi din sa aking ng bago kong bahay.

Ubos man ang salapi okie lang kasi may mga tao naman akong natulungan.Sa kabila ng isang taon pagod. Salamat pa din sa Panginoon sapagkat nandito pa rin ako patuloy na tumatanggap ng mga biyaya mula sa kanya, karangalan na hindi maagaw ng iba,at higit sa lahat bagong kaibigan at kanlungan na magtuturo para sa akin para maging matagumpay ang tatahakin kong landas.
